Job Overview

The Inside Claims Representative I contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of small to moderate property claims resulting from catastrophes, natural disasters and weather events by means of telephone and written correspondence.
 
Job Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Interpret policy wordings, determine policy coverage and ensure proper reserves
  • Investigate, evaluate and quantify small to moderate claims while adhering to Wawanesa’s adjusting guidelines
  • Abide by policies, procedures and Standard of Work documentation
  • Collaborate and negotiate with contractors, adjusters, and policy holders in a timely manner to ensure the proactive handling of claims
  • Adjust claims from inception to completion in a proactive manner with exceptional customer service always in mind. This includes losses resulting from natural disasters and any other claims as required
  • Write scope and estimate of loss using property estimating software Xactimate
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance development within the Catastrophe Claims process.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the property department
  • Keep accurate notes/documentation, ensuring the systems of record are up to date and comprehensive
  • Maintain excellent knowledge and understanding of policy coverages and industry standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or actively pursuing
  • Post-Secondary degree is preferred
  • Exceptional customer service skills demonstrating empathy and concern for our customers
  • Knowledge of property estimating software, Xactware knowledge is an asset
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with others
  • Ability to interpret and quantify property damage estimates
  • Ability to work overtime hours as required and approved
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent investigative, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Highly proficient in time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, high demand & changing environment
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
