Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $75,000 - $95,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
Working under general supervision, the Product Specialist assists in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Wawanesa's insurance products and underwriting policies that support and promote corporate strategies for all offered lines of business expertise.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze and implement product and rate reviews to ensure that our rates are competitive and that appropriate premiums are charged
- Conduct research and develop innovative and competitive products to meet our needs through the use of business intelligence tools with internal data and identification and analysis of external market information
- Monitor Industry trends and product performance, including legislation and regulation changes, and coordinate any required changes to products and identify growth opportunities
- Measure, analyze and report on OKRs and KPIs, leveraging insights to prioritize key product changes
- Participate in the development and presentation of product training programs to a variety of audiences
- Analyze market trends, product performance, and member needs to contribute to the development and maintenance of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
- Contribute to systems projects as a product subject matter expert (SME)
- Develop and enhance productive business relationships by liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements across all initiatives. Enforce adherence to relevant guidelines and standards to maintain organizational integrity and legal alignment
- Conduct quality reviews on product changes and enhancements including creating and conducting testing plans, reporting outcomes, and actioning improvements to ensure quality
- Document and maintain external competitive and internal product information to support priorities and business decisions. This could include, but is not limited to: broker manuals, training material, intention documents, wordings, project plans, product backlog, and competitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of personal lines auto insurance industry experience
- Experience in Alberta and The Maritimes personal lines auto insurance is considered an asset
- Completion of post-secondary education
- Post-secondary degree in a related discipline and/or completion of Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or equivalent Property & Casualty designation is an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed analysis of information, and to select and implement best solutions in a timely manner. Leveraging business intelligence tools
- Strong business insight and ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels of the organization to capture necessary feedback
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the audience and present information or arguments in a convincing manner
- Strong planning and organizing skills with the ability to prioritize daily task
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify relevant information and potential impacts
