Job Overview

As a Field Catastrophe Claims Representative, you’ll deploy to natural disasters, large‑loss and complex claim events across Canada—conducting on-site inspections, investigations, and damage assessments for residential and commercial property losses. Using industry-leading estimating software, you’ll create accurate repair estimates, support fair and timely claim resolution, and partner closely with policyholders, contractors, and internal teams. This role requires travel on short notice and may involve extended assignments in impacted regions. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Inspect, investigate, evaluate, and quantify residential and commercial property damage claims (task-based or full-file), including catastrophe/natural disaster and other complex losses as assigned.
  • Travel across Canada as needed to support catastrophe response and surge claim volumes, including short-notice deployments.
  • Apply and clearly communicate policy coverages, regional regulatory requirements, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices throughout the claim lifecycle.
  • Partner with policyholders, contractors, and internal adjusting teams to drive proactive claim handling, timely updates, and a high-quality customer experience.
  • Prepare and review repair estimates, complete re-inspections, and support dispute resolution and settlement discussions as required.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed file notes and documentation; ensure systems of record are current, complete, and audit-ready.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and Standard of Work documentation to ensure consistent, compliant claim outcomes.
  • Participate in technical upgrading and continuous learning; stay current on repair methods, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and deliver training, sharing expertise to support the growth and capability of others.
  • Identify when specialized expertise is required and recommend/engage appropriate experts and vendors (e.g., engineers, contents evaluation firms).
  • Support the handling of large-loss and complex claims, escalating issues and collaborating across teams to achieve timely resolution.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support team objectives and catastrophe response operations.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of property field adjusting (or equivalent), including strong estimating experience (Xactware).
  • Available for short-notice travel across Canada, including extended deployments.
  • Able to work approved overtime when required.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-changing environment.
  • Collaborative teammate with the ability to coach/train others.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Highly organized; able to prioritize and manage multiple files.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Customer-focused, empathetic, and solutions-oriented.
  • Post-secondary education is an asset.
