Job Overview
Working under minimal supervision, the Claims Technical Specialist – Casualty Liability contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by analyzing business processes to support design and/or modification of operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the adjusting function.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing support and subject matter expertise on claims file handling, strategy, action planning and resolution
- Lead and manage regional large loss process for line of business in conjunction with CTS in Regions
- Chair large loss meetings and ensure appropriate escalation
- Liaise with Executive office stakeholders from product and underwriting in the development of new products providing claims expertise
- Recommend changes to documentation (business processes, user guides, and procedures) in order to facilitate user training as well as the integration of new processes within current operations
- Create technical handling guidelines as required
- Review and analyze national claims results from QA as provided by Exec office and support action planning and performance improvement for the regions with the regional leadership teams and CTS
- Coordinate and provide instruction and/or training of regulatory requirements for compliance
- Mentor and develop team members through the sharing of knowledge and best practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years Property and Casualty industry experience (Liability CGL an asset)
- Completed CIP or equivalent Property and Casualty industry designation
- College/University degree preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Expert knowledge of coverage wordings, policy interpretation, case law, legislation, and insurance regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed analysis of information, and to select and implement best solutions in a timely manner
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the audience and present information or arguments in a convincing manner
- Good negotiation skills, with the ability to present information in a convincing manner
- Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to ensure group objectives are met
