Our Risk & Compliance teams are respected and trusted in our organization. We continually use our specialized knowledge in risk, privacy, and compliance to refine strategies and processes. At Wawanesa, we help protect our organization by employing a "Three Lines of Defense" model using our Enterprise Risk Management, Enterprise Compliance, Business Continuity, and Internal Audit teams to identify and manage strategic, compliance, operational, insurance, financial and reputational risks.
Risk
The purpose of the Risk Function is to work in collaboration with the business to identify and address risk at an enterprise and individual company level to ensure that activities in pursuit of our corporate strategies and business objectives stay within Wawanesa’s risk appetite.
By looking ahead and analyzing potential risk factors in our business environment, we help our leaders better manage their business by providing them with the critical information they need to mitigate potential issues. For us, collaboration is a key way the Risk Management function can "do the right thing" for Wawanesa.
Compliance
At Wawanesa, we are committed to operating ethically and with integrity. The Compliance Function works in collaboration with the business to identify and address compliance matters involving laws, regulations, policies, processes, and ethical standards.
Our Compliance teams provide leadership in addressing Regulatory Compliance Risk events and in evaluating the effectiveness of controls intended to mitigate Regulatory Compliance Risk. They work with senior management on remediation of control gaps or weaknesses.
