The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $50,000 - $70,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Recovery Adjuster contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by actively pursuing the recovery and collection of subrogation and/or salvage proceeds, along with responding to subrogation demands when applicable.   

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Determine subrogation/salvage amounts applicable and payable, and ensure appropriate reserving
  • Identify and pursue avenues of recovery
  • Manage the recovery process on claim files in a proactive manner
  • Negotiate settlement with insureds, claimants, lawyers, vendors and insurance companies
  • Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
  • Serve as an intercompany Arbitrator where applicable
  • Attend legal proceedings in the course of subrogation litigation handling if required
  • Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system
  • Remain up-to-date with relevant legislative changes and trends in the insurance industry
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+years insurance adjusting experience
  • Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
  • Effective customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent investigative and analytical skills
  • Highly proficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • College/University degree is preferred
